While hustle culture is still alive and well, more and more people are leaving the rat race in search of a better work-life balance. One driving factor of this trend? Burnout. With 75% of workers experiencing burnout at some point in their careers and 36% saying their company isn’t doing anything to help with said burnout, it’s no wonder why the American workforce is undergoing a massive paradigm shift.
We get it. At Principled Life, we strive to be amongst the top companies with the best work-life balance and have built a creative workspace in which our team thrives. If you’re curious about our company, our hiring process, and what it’s like working for us as a life insurance broker, keep reading.
We Hire People, Not Resumes
Don’t get us wrong – having an impressive resume is, well, impressive. But looking good on paper isn’t the end-all-be-all measuring stick for becoming a team member at Principled Life. While a resume is a good starting point, we want to get to know you and what you’re all about.
Whether you have an advanced degree, unique life or work experiences, a knack for sales, or simply love helping people, we want to hear about it. We don’t place strict requirements on hiring team members because we know that everyone has their own strengths, interests, and experiences that drive them and their potential.
In-house Training & Licensing Program
No experience? No problem. We understand that we’re in a pretty niche industry, so we don’t expect you to be an expert in life insurance (or in sales, for that matter). We do, however, give you all of the help you need to become one.
We provide comprehensive in-house training through our licensing program to help you learn the ropes, quickly. When you’re ready, we will set up the licensing exam for you – all you need to do is pass.
Guaranteed Base Salary
The sales industry – insurance sales in particular – is historically a commission-only business. That just doesn’t work for us. At Principled Life, we believe that if a broker’s focus is solely on making a commission, they can’t focus on finding the best insurance for the best price for our customers.
We’re in the business of helping people, which is why we offer our insurance brokers a competitive base salary with generous bonuses. Each and every one of our brokers retain this base salary, whether or not they make a single sale. Ultimately, want our brokers to make sales and earn bonuses, but we also don’t want them to feel pressured to force sales – which is easier to do when you know you have a financial cushion to fall back on. We believe we’re truly unique in the insurance sales industry in that our incentive structure puts both our employees and our customers first.
We Do the Heavy Lifting for You
Ask anyone who has worked in sales – generating leads is the toughest part of the job. Some sales positions even require you to spend money to make money (re: pay out of your own pocket for leads). We take the stress out of finding leads by doing it for you.
That’s right – no sourcing leads, no reaching out to friends, family, or personal contacts, no cold calling. You only work when someone calls Principled Life for a quote or more information about their life insurance options.
Enjoy a Creative Workspace
We strive to make Principled Life one of the best places to work by fostering a positive work environment in our creative workspace.
The vibe of our office environment is important to us – we don’t want our brokers to feel like they’re in a stereotypical call center or drowning in a sea of partitions. We want our team to feel good about the work they’re doing and comfortable in their space, which is why we’ve created an open work environment with spacious desks, good computers, and all the tools our brokers need to succeed.
You’re a Counselor, Not a Salesperson
Unlike other sales positions, you don’t need to be a natural-born salesperson to work at Principled Life. In fact, we prefer non-salesy brokers. We are successful as a company because we truly help people find the right life insurance for them, within their budget, from whichever A-rated insurance company has the best offer for their specific circumstances. To do this, our brokers need to get a little personal and connect with customers.
Insurance, in general, isn’t exactly the most tantalizing topic – and life insurance, specifically, can bring up some difficult feelings and emotions. On top of reminding people about their own mortality simply by talking life insurance options, our brokers also need to ask questions about customers’ lives and health. While some people are just fine discussing these matters, others are not. Principled Life insurance brokers need to be able to meet people where they are in order to help them find the peace of mind they’re seeking.
